Designed and built by Salvtech with the aid of IBS PPG, and under an Innovate UK grant, this separator is designed to recover waste plastic film from organics and contaminated material.
While conventional separators use water, the iSep uses a dry air process, which provides an instant saving on water costs and helps reduce water waste. The energy cost per ton of material processed is much lower than traditional technologies. The aim is to allow some of the 1.2M tonnes of plastic film, currently landfilled, to be recovered and reprocessed. Material recovered from the original prototype has been successfully used in the production of bulky plastic products in the construction industry.
